Chianti Rufina is a historic territory of wine production, among the most important in Tuscany, located north-east of the city of Florence, on the slopes of the Tuscan Apennines-Romagnolo. The first historical testimonies about Rufina’s wines date back to the early fifteenth century. In the eighteenth century, with the Edict of the Grand Duke of Tuscany, came official recognition, and Cosimo III, in the Notice of 24 September 1716, classified the wine produced in this area, among the best four in Tuscany.
