San Piero a Sieve, crossroads since ancient times, has developed over the centuries around the Pieve di San Pietro, which in 2018 celebrated its first millennium. In the upper part of the town Villa Adami (now library), Villa Schifanoia and the Fortress of San Martino were built in 1569 by Cosimo I de’ Medici with the contribution of Bernardo Buontalenti. “The most beautiful villages in Italy”, Scarperia (the “shoe” of the Apennines), “new land” founded by Florence on 8 September 1306; every year the whole country relives its past with the Renaissance Days and the Palio of Diotto. The fourteenth-century Palazzo of Vicari, in addition to the historical archive and the ancient clock of the bell tower, by Filippo Brunelleschi, is home to the Museum of Sharp Irons, production of which Scarperia boasts centuries of high production.

The “Palazzo or Castello dei Vicari” (also known as Palazzo Pretorio) is a fourteenth-century palace located in Scarperia, in the province of Florence. Inside the building there is the Municipal Library of Scarperia and the Museum of sharp irons, where the famous production of knives in the country is illustrated.

• The group of the Nobili Balladori da San Barnaba, will perform Renaissance dances and courtships, teaching some typical steps of the past, in the ancient rooms of the Historical Archive Preunitario, located in the attic of the “Palazzo dei Vicari” of Scarperia. Here will also be told the history of the village, partly collected in ancient documents and manuscripts (more than 4500) here since the fifteenth century. Participants will then be given a book related to the history of the territory of Mugello, followed by a toast accompanied by typical Tuscan products on the picturesque tower of the keep, located in the renovated battlements, on the walls of the fourteenth-century building. It will be possible to admire the splendid panorama of Scarperia from above at sunset.
