Exclusive Experiences

Mugello

The “Palazzo or Castello dei Vicari” (also known as Palazzo Pretorio) is a fourteenth-century palace located in Scarperia, in the province of Florence. Inside the building there is the Municipal Library of Scarperia and the Museum of sharp irons, where the famous production of knives in the country is illustrated. The “Museo dei Ferri Taglienti”, opened in 1999, documents the centuries-old activity of its cutlers. On the origin of this activity there is no precise information: we talk about an initial production of weapons necessary for the defense of the castle, a thesis that is well reconciled with the nature of a fortified garrison that Scarperia had since its foundation. Another possibility is that the production of irons was created to meet the need for agricultural work in the nearby countryside.

It will be possible to admire the splendid panorama of Scarperia from above at sunset. Participants will then be given a bottle of local wine.
