Tuscany is located in the center of Italy and in the center of Tuscany, between Florence, Siena and Arezzo, we find the Chianti – a fascinating hilly area, in its diversity, no less than the famous cities including it. The name “Chianti”, synonymous in the world also of its prestigious wine, is currently used to indicate areas of a different delimited territory. So we need some clarity. From a geographical point of view, Chianti is an area of medium-high hills that stretches for almost twenty kilometres (roughly north-south-southeast).
Its highest point is the 893-metre-high Monte San Michele. It is bathed by five rivers that enliven its configuration with their valleys: Pesa, Greve, Ombrone, Staggia and Arbia. From the historical point of view, the name should be attributed only to the municipalities of Gaiole, Radda and Castellina (called precisely “in Chianti”) that is to the territories that made up the ancient “Florentine Military League of Chianti” and that had as emblem the Black Rooster.

Discover the streets of Chianti, riding a Vespa or a scooter. Driving through the breathtaking landscapes of hills and vineyards, you can reach the famous medieval village of San Gimignano. Don’t forget to stop and take some great pictures. Bring your camera, there are many excellent vantage points on this excursion!
