Cashmere is a textile fiber that comes from the hair of the Hircus goat, the domestic goat, bred in Iran, Mongolia, Tibet, Afghanistan and also in the area of Kashmir, from which the name derives. In these areas the climate is very cold and the goat has had to adapt to withstand the harsh winters, when the temperature drops even up to 30 vol. below zero, but also the scorching summers. Its body is covered by a more rough and rough surface layer, called giarre, and by a very dense and very soft insulating undercoat, called duvet, characterized by thermoregulatory properties. And it is precisely from the duvet that cashmere is produced.
