Mugello

In Mugello the tradition of ceramics has very ancient roots. Already at the beginning of the ‘500 Pierfrancesco de’ Medici built, at the villa of Cafaggiolo in Barberino, a pottery factory with furnace and workshop active until 1599. At the beginning of the ‘900 Mugello begins the ceramic activity of the Chini family in Borgo San Lorenzo. Galileo Chini and Piero and Chino Chini founded the “San Lorenzo Kilns” where they undertook the production of ceramics and the production of stained glass windows with great success.

Luca Canavicchio enters the world of applied arts as a young man, working in the family workshop in Florence. After graduating in Pictorial Decoration and Restoration and graduating in History of Contemporary Art, in 2005 he began to learn the techniques of ceramics, until making it his main activity.
Today, in his workshop in Borgo San Lorenzo, he realizes sculptures, everyday objects and wall decorations applying his experience in ceramics and painting.
