The majolica of Cafaggiolo was one of the most prestigious productions of Italian Renaissance ceramics, in the golden age of the sixteenth century. Starting from an ancient brick kiln, at the end of the fifteenth century Lorenzo il Popolano, owner of the villa of Cafaggiolo sold by his cousin Lorenzo de’ Medici, called some potters from Montelupo Fiorentino, to establish a majolica factory closer to Florence, which could fully meet the needs of the city and its family. Among the artists arrived were Piero and Stefano di Filippo Schiavon and a Fattorini, decorator of great talent. The furnace was located in an area overlooking the current stables.

“Luca Canavicchio” enters the world of applied arts as a young man, working in the family workshop in Florence. After graduating in Pictorial Decoration and Restoration and graduating in History of Contemporary Art, in 2005 he began to learn the techniques of ceramics, until making it his main activity.
Today, in his workshop in Borgo San Lorenzo, he realizes sculptures, everyday objects and wall decorations applying his experience in ceramics and painting.
