The medieval village of Poppi is a rare “walled city” at the top of which the Castle of the Guidi Counts dominates, the work of the famous family of architects Di Cambio and “prototype” of Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. Thanks to constant restoration over the centuries, the castle of Poppi is currently in excellent condition. Inside, the Library “Rilliana”, full of hundreds of medieval manuscripts and incunabula. Another element of absolute importance is the Chapel of the Counts with a cycle of fourteenth-century frescoes attributed to Taddeo Gaddi, a pupil of Giotto.
